Each local event celebrates talent practicing in the immediate region. Previous speakers include Seattle’s Modern Dog (in Portland and Seattle), professor and filmmaker Andrea Marks, dean of Northwest design, the redoubtable Byron Ferris, Communications Arts editor Patrick Coyne, creative director Jelly Helm, designer and entrepreneur Aaron Draplin (in Portland and Seattle), educator and illustrator Frank Chimero, design style-makers The Official Manufacturing Company (OMFGCo), local design pioneers The Felt Hat, the inimitable Invisible Creature, Steve Sandstrom, Jeff Kovel of Skylab and Jeff Faulkner.
